Use Field Review to learn insights about the planting job

Field Review is functionality within the SeedStar Mobile app that enables the grower to view the planting maps of a field that has been started or completely planted. The grower is able to access their high-definition planting data directly from the iPad at any time or any place. Field Review allows the grower to select the field that has been planted, and view any of the nine different map layers that were documented during the planting operation. Field Review provides the grower the ability to perform basic crop scouting activities after the crop has emerged. Growers can utilize this functionality to validate planter performance by checking emergence through stand counts and help identify potential agronomic issues that can occur in a field. If the iPad is cellular capable and has an active data plan, Field Review will track the location of the user through the field as they perform their scouting activities.

Monitor row-by-row performance in cab

As an operator, being able to monitor and evaluate row-by-row performance of the planter helps ensure the quality of the job during planting. SeedStar™ Mobile documents and displays each row of the planter directly onto the iPad® tablet. By utilizing the higher screen resolution capabilities of the iPad, the performance of each row of the planter can be shown in a high-definition map layer. The high-definition map layers provide a better understanding of how the planter is operating in the field. Operators can more easily detect problems or performance trends of a particular row(s) due to the higher granularity offered with mapping the planting data on a row-by-row basis. The operator also has five customizable dashboards at the top of the screen that help quantify the average performance of the planter during operation.

Integrates easily with existing John Deere technology

SeedStar™ Mobile works directly with the GreenStar™ 3 2630 Display, Generation 4 4600 CommandCenter™ display (if equipped), and the SeedStar monitoring software on the planter to enhance the operator’s experience while planting. Inside the tractor cab, the operator’s own iPad® tablet is utilized for SeedStar Mobile to display the performance of the planter. The in-cab display and SeedStar monitoring software on the planter automatically send the required setup information and GPS data directly to the wireless data server and the SeedStar Mobile app on the iPad. This reduces the number of settings the customer has to configure during the planting operation and ensures the accuracy of the planting data being documented by using the StarFire™ 3000 Receiver.
The use of John Deere’s StarFire 3000 Receiver provides much greater mapping accuracy of planting data verses the internal GPS of the iPad. Besides the iPad and the John Deere in-cab display (the GreenStar 3 2630 and/or the Generation 4 4600 CommandCenter) there are no additional displays or components added to the cab of the tractor for SeedStar Mobile. This decreases the complexity of product and reduces clutter inside the tractor cab. SeedStar Mobile also works with a variety of other existing John Deere technology solutions that are utilized during planting. Please refer to the compatibility sections for all the details.

Base equipment for planters factory installed with ExactEmerge™ row-units

The SeedStar™ Mobile wireless data server hardware is in base equipment for model year 2015 and newer planters factory installed with ExactEmerge row-units. This means that the wireless data server, coax cable, and antenna hardware are installed on the planter directly from the factory. This makes enabling SeedStar Mobile quick and easy on John Deere planters factory installed with ExactEmerge row-units. For 2016 and newer planters factory installed with ExactEmerge row-units, the first year annual subscription is included with the purchase of the planter.
To enable the SeedStar Mobile subscription on model year 2016 planters equipped with ExactEmerge row-units, the dealer transfers the wireless data server into the grower’s MyJohnDeere account, and the annual subscription is automatically sent to the wireless data server on the planter. Please contact a dealer about enabling SeedStar Mobile on 2015 and newer planters factory installed with ExactEmerge row-units.
Remotely monitor planter performance within the John Deere Operations Center

For growers with large operations and multiple planters in their equipment fleets, SeedStar Mobile enables remote monitoring through the John Deere Operations Center. Using the cellular capabilities of the iPad® tablet and the grower’s cellular data plan, the SeedStar Mobile planting data can be wireless sent to the Job Monitor within the Operations Center. Depending upon cell signal and coverage, the SeedStar Mobile planting data is sent in near real-time. This enables the grower or manager to remotely monitor the performance of their planters in the Operations Center at the office or any location that has access to the Internet. Job Monitor displays several of the same map layers on a row-by-row basis (when possible), providing the same information the operator’s views on the iPad inside the cab of the tractor. Remote monitoring helps the grower or manager ensure the desired quality of the job done while planting without having to be at the field or inside the tractor cab.
For additional information about the Job Monitor, please refer to the John Deere Operations Center.
